A declaration of love
What happens on a very intimate level to someone who survives the creepy experience of being on death row?
Curtis McCarty was sentenced to death in 1985 for a crime he didn’t commit. He spent 22 years in prison, 19 of them in death row. Buried alive below ground in a concrete room with no windows and no human contacts in Oklahoma State Penitentiary. In 2007 he was exonerated and set free. He was diagnosed with severe PTSD, without any help or support his life fell apart,
so he became homeless and drug-addicted. In 2018 Curtis was charged with drug possession for personal use and sentenced to 10 years of prison. After 2 years in prison Curtis was released on probation. Since then he’s gone missing.
The film gives voice to a human being who is being cruelly persecuted by a perverse legal system telling, in a singular and visionary way, his sense of anger and displacement in a world where he doesn’t belong anymore.
