AK Stories is a one year journey in the life of 3 fighters who are armed with Kalashnikovs in 3 emblematic parts of the world: Western Kurdistan, Somalia and Ukraine.
Zilan, Kadi and Claude use this “global” weapon as an everyday object. Over time the rifle has become for them an irreplaceable life companion, almost an extension of their body, the tangible symbol of the motivations and of their individual personal choices. They are peace-keepers, modern soldiers, part of a geo-political mechanism without an obvious solution. Fighters of a “collective” cause, despite being in 4 different places, each is the short circuit of a general condition of violence and insecurity, real or perceived, that they experience every day.
